i heart jimmy

Here it is! I hardly wanted to touch my camera the rest of the trip in fear of something happening to this picture. It is like a precious metal.

The Encounter:

My friend, Kim, and I had high hopes of “running into” Jimmy at 30 Rock, so when this didn’t happen (because there are like a million entrances/exits in the building), I resorted to my one and only connection to see if anything would come of it. For reasons I’m sure are obvious, I can’t reveal this connection or how I got it, but as you can see….it worked. The next thing I know, an associate producer was taking us up the elevator to the 7th floor.

We walked out of the elevator and immediately standing in front of me was Kirk from The Roots. His back was to me, but I recognized his hair. LOL. We waited for a couple minutes and then noticed Jimmy walking down the hallway towards us. It’s so funny to see him outside of the show, b/c the first thing I noticed was his hunched over walk with a slight bounce in his step. He’s always so much more proper on camera, so it was adorable to see this little boyish walk he did that reminded me of how he strutted in Fever Pitch and Taxi.

He walked right up and gave me a handshake. We talked about a few things and the subject got onto the Real Housewives. He laughed and went into Denise mode saying “Eff Awf!” Yes, he actually did a Denise impression in front of me. He said the next eppy airs this Thursday and that this afternoon they were doing a special part on the Today Show w/ Kathie Lee and Hoda. (only to be aired on Late Nite) He seemed really excited about this. Then, a regret that will haunt me forever, he basically invited us to WATCH this taping, but I said I had a flight to catch. Hello!? Catch another one! So, yes, this has been killing me now for the past 36 hours. I’m just telling myself it wasn’t meant to be. This sneak peek is just like rubbing salt on my wound.

Jimmy also mentioned that he doesn’t tweet that much b/c he feels like he doesn’t always have something funny to say. I told him that everyone wants to see the finished Christmas tree! Then he proceeded to go into this cute story about how complicated it was to put his tree up. It has like A,B,C,& D parts and then cords that plugged into here and there and that it was so confusing. I was only half listening b/c I was focusing on how stinking adorable he was and so in shock that I was actually having a conversation with him. My legs were shaking and I’m sure my voice was too. Oh, and he said he even put a train set under the tree. Awwww. :p

I mentioned my blog, which he said he had seen and throughout our talk, I think he shook my hand at least 4 times. (How sweet.) Jimmy also gave me a signed Late Night shirt which had been thrown over his right shoulder when walking down to us. Then it was picture time. I said I HAD to get one taken with my phone so I could tweet it out. So we took one w/ my phone then a couple with my regular camera. I’m sure there was more that I am forgetting, but that was the gist of it. He hugged me and I told him I’d be at the show that night.

With a permanent smile on my face, my friend and I went to Macy’s. My phone was almost dead so I didn’t want to get on twitter for fear of it completely dying. But I wanted to hurry and thank Jimmy through twitter before he got busy with rehearsing. So while my friend was shopping, I stood in the corner and got on twitter. After I tweeted him, I checked my incoming tweets and scrolled down to see Jimmy had already tweeted me 30 minutes earlier!

Not only did he use the word “finally” but had an exclamation point. He hardly EVER uses an exclamation point in his tweets. Yes, I notice this stuff.

Ok, so then we get to the taping. Great show! (I will explain about the 2 tapings in a later post.) After the band performed he continues as normal to go up the stairs and high-five audience members. As he’s coming back down the other side, I was hoping he’d recognize me. He saw me, raised his eyebrows and smiled. The music was SO loud that for him to talk to me, he had to get about an inch from my face. Oh.My.Gawd. I remember him looking right in my eyes and talking to me. I mean he was so close, I couldn’t see all of his face. Then gave me a big hug! I remember thinking this was the longest hug and that I can’t believe my cheek is touching his. It was probably about 3-4 seconds, which doesn’t sound like a long time, but trust me, time stood still for a moment. I knew that part wouldn’t be on the show b/c he took so long shaking the hands of people in the band. I NEED that video!

He always sincere and makes you feel so important. He’s absolutely amazing.

After the taping, I went downstairs to wait for The Roots. Next thing I know, walking around the corner was Mike Shoemaker (LNwJF Producer), Jimmy Fallon, and Lorne Michaels. Lorne was in front w/ the other two slighty behind on either side. I swear it was like straight out of a movie. These 3 powerful men in suits, walking in slow motion as this bad-ass rock music plays. Totally amazing. Jimmy looks over and waves with a smile and says “hey guys!”. I was caught off guard seeing Jimmy and didn’t want him to think I was like stalking him, so like an absolute IDIOT I yelled out “we’re waiting for The Roots!” UGH! Like Jimmy effin cares what we are doing there. I had done so well and then just became a fumbling idiot at the end. LOL Oh well, he probably didn’t give it a second thought.

So there ya have it. What a day! This was my silly, fan-girly post and I’m sorry about all the details, but that’s what ya asked for.
